Training. 

Training as a gestalt therapist is a lengthy process, requiring at least 4 years of basic training and a personal commitment to ongoing education, both practically and theoretically.

The SBG is an accrediting body with the ABP at the national level and with the EAGT at the international level. Our candidates who are full members and affiliates are welcome regardless of where their training took place, provided that the criteria defined in the membership procedure are met.

Maintaining full membership status requires reporting, every 5 years, to the SBG proof of completing 100 hours of continuing education distributed as follows:

  • 20 hours of supervision
  • 30 hours of participation in congresses, seminars, courses, workshops
  • 50 hours of peer supervision, participation in a peer group around one’s own work as a therapist or teaching Gestalt Therapy, articles on Gestalt Therapy, conducting scientific research.
